About Us

Welcome to Sydney CBD Psychology

We aim to provide high quality psychological services using evidence-based treatments, in a safe, comfortable and supportive environment.

Dr Milica Kecmanovic, Founder

Milica is an experienced clinical psychologist offering therapy for adults in Sydney CBD and via telehealth.

Milica has a warm, empathetic and non-judgemental approach in her therapy. She enjoys working collaboratively with her clients, to help them bring about change and live richer and more meaningful lives. She values creating a safe and respectful environment for her clients.

Milica has experience in treating adults and adolescents in both public and private practice settings. She has worked with individuals, and their families, who are facing problems with depression, anxiety, trauma, phobias, eating disorders as well as relationship problems, anger, carer stress and parenting concerns.

Milica has a special interest in the application of Schema Therapy to problems with disordered eating and has completed advanced training in Schema Therapy with internationally acclaimed trainers. Milica also uses other evidence-based therapies such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, and mindfulness, with an empathetic and client-centred approach.

Milica has presented her research on the topics of anxiety and interpersonal problems at international psychology conferences. Before training in clinical psychology, Milica had a career in research and teaching in health economics at several Australian universities, and has also had experience working in the corporate sector. She has also lived in five countries and due to her multi-cultural background is fluent in English and Serbian/Croatian/Bosnian, and conversational in French and Spanish. This has given her a rich personal experience and allowed her to gain exposure to people in a variety of life situations and cultures, and has contributed to her broad-minded and non-judgemental approach.

Under Medicare’s Better Access Initiative eligible individuals can receive rebates for up to 20 sessions in a calendar year. In order to receive a rebate, a referral (called a Mental Health Care Plan) is needed from a GP or a psychiatrist. Your doctor will need to have our name and address in order to make the referral. If you do not have a regular GP we can refer you to a GP within our network. The current Service Fee Rebate is $129.55.  If you would like to claim via your Private Health Fund, you do not need a referral.

Please check with your Private Health Fund if you are covered for psychological services and what the rebate is.
